Ice-chandelier at the Icehotel exhibition, impressive, though they did mention that the real ones are bigger and have a LED-light inside each and every piece of ice. I also found out that anyone working within arts, architecture or design can apply to be part of the Icehotel creative team (you have to get picked tho'), and I guess if you do get chosen you have to be prepared to work under slightly colder conditions than normal and face the fact that all you do will melt away when spring comes. /M

Since we have a new and very exciting client based in Kiruna we started this week by spending 24 hours there. Kiruna is located 200 kilometers above the polar circle (!) and I have never been even close to that far up north.

This was the stunning view from the plane when we were about to land. After that followed a hectic schedule that included a visit to the Ice Hotel site, Esrange; the Swedish Space Center, a delicious three course meal, sleeping in a cabin, great hotel breakfast, a space school, the Swedish institute for Space Physics and at last the Arctic Arena. It was all very interesting and just to be in such a different place where it was already winter made it feel like a mini adventure. I'll show you some more pictures later. /M

Found this lovely piece of soap packaging in the supermarket where I also bought some yummy Brazilian treats (including Cachaça for caipirinhas). Martina, I can save a bottle if you book your ticket.. Will be flying back today, happy to be heading home. I did mention it was too sunny here - that lasted only the first couple of days, we had clouds and even rain all other days.

Colour experiments

Doing some fun freelance work whilst in Brazil. These illustrations will be printed on fabric that will be used to make lovely weekend bags. The whole project is about using recycled material, the fabric has a really nice touch, can't wait to see the print testes. We want an organic feel, to link with the recycled quality but using some vibrant colours to give it a nice kick!

Our hunt for mushrooms started with the poisonous kind but after a progression further into the forest we got very lucky. The forest was so beautiful and the weather was perfect. It was my first time picking mushrooms like this and I must say it went well; we brought to full bags of them back to Stockholm. I've just learned they're called funnel chanterelles in English. I think chanterelle soup is on the menu tonight. /M

An old friend

I used my sewing machine today for the first time in over seven years. I got it for Christmas 2003 and used it a lot for three months but sadly it was way to heavy to bring to London. I had to amend the pillowcases Daisy got me for my bday, from English size to Swedish. Thanks again dear, now they're perfect!

Tomorrow is back to work for real after some time off. I did work a few days last week tho' but not in the office, I was styling/art directing a jewelry photoshoot, very fun indeed. /M

Packaging heaven! In our neighbouring village here on Öland they have opened a museum in what once used to be the village shop. It stood neglected for years (closed down sometime in the 70s) but apparently all these treasures were still left scattered around the house. Finally someone has realised the potential and for the small entrance fee of 20 Swedish krona you can enter and admire all the goodies. More photos to come; there was a lot to look at! /M

Around this time last year I was packing up my London life and finishing our final major project. I didn't think life could be much more stressful than that but turns out it's rather stressful now as well. So stressful lately actually that I've managed to be unaware of the fact that my passport expired last week. I discovered it today when I decided to check in to my Friday Ryanair flight that was meant to take me to London. I ran to the police station but since the old passport was expired I wasn't allowed to apply for a new one until my boyfriend came and signed a paper stating I was I. They say I am likely to get it already on Thursday but I won't put all my hope on that… I'm usually a very organised person but stress messes with my brain. I sure hope I will get my passport on time so that I can get a much needed weekend off and spend it with you girls! Spending the afternoon at the police didn't help me with my deadlines. Oh, and to make you understand how bad this not so good day started I can tell you it snowed when I woke up (!!!???) /M

Sorry there isn't more to show ... this was the most relaxing holidays of all, I didn't pick up the camera most of the times I thought about doing it. I did take some lomo's, which hopefully will show a bit more. Will develop the film soon. Last week was a true breather. Now, back in London, sun is shinning full-on, high temperature and simply amazing weather. Glad to be back.

I think I dare to say that spring is finally here (almost summer temperatures today tho'). Yay! Makes me so happy. I've been out walking most of the day but also met a friend for coffee in a park. She had these colourful easter eggs, decorated with patterned plastic covers from Russia.

This weekend I'll try to be a tourist in my own city, to find out what exciting stuff I can show you girls. /M

The water is completely transparent, with a hint of blue, like a swimming pool.
